Kannawidan Festival

 Ilocos Sur is a beautiful province located in the northern part of Luzon. It is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the whole world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the “Kannadiwan Festival”

It is a celebration that lasts from the last week of January up to the first week of February. Included in the course of events is the commemoration of the foundation day of the province.The local government of Ilocos Sur thought of this festival to encourage the younger generations to learn the indigenous songs and dances of the province, but this year as the pandemic is still here,

they ensure that it is celebrated in some way, The government of the city planned to make it a low key celebration and places a high value on social distance and hygiene standards. 

The  celebration of Vigan festival is not the same as before but its still make us see and understand the importance or the significance of the occasion and our tradition but in a safe way.

 Araw ng Kagitingan is a regular holiday in the Philippines and occurs on or around April 9. Many streets are closed and public transport routes may be redirected to give way for parades.  The Viva Vigan Festival of Arts is celebrated during the first week of the month of May. It was started in 1993 by the Save Vigan Ancestral Homes Association, Inc. (SVAHAI) to promote awareness of the value of the historic town, which was hoped to strengthen resolve to preserve and protect this heritage site.
